Annotated Translation: Das Frauen-Konzentrationslager Ravensbrück - Geschichte und Erinnerung

This bachelor thesis presents a commented translation of three chapters from the exhibition catalogue Das Frauen-Konzentrationslager Ravensbrück - Geschichte und Erinnerung. The catalogue contains texts from the permanent exhibition which was opened in 2013 at the former Nazi concentration camp (nowadays Ravensbrück Memorial). The exhibition focuses on the history of the womenʼs concentration camp and living conditions of female inmates. The thesis comprises of two parts - a translation of chosen chapters from German into Czech and a commentary. The latter includes the analysis of the source text according to the model created by the German translation scholar Christiane Nord, a description of the translation method and process, and also a typology of translation problems and shifts.
